    This is a double-blind, randomized, controlled, phase 2 clinical trial. A total of 60 people with knee osteoarthritis will undergo an anesthetic block test with the injection of 1% lidocaine in the medial and lateral superior genicular branches and in the inferior medial branch of the affected knee. The procedure will be performed with the patient in the supine position with support below the leg to maintain passive knee flexion at 15-30º, using aseptic technique, local anesthesia of the skin with 1% lidocaine (hypodermic needle using a maximum volume of 5 ml), injection of medication through a Quincke needle type 22G X 3 ½ guided by ultrasound, through the Mindray Mobile Trolley device model UMT - 150. Participants in which the block causes a decrease in pain greater than or equal to 50% in the post-procedure will be randomly allocated in the experimental and control groups. Randomization was previously performed using Microsoft Excel® software. Experimental group: 30 people with knee osteoarthritis will undergo neurolytic blockade of the genicular nerves with injection of 6% glycerin phenol solution, total 0.5-2 ml in each branch (medial and lateral superior genicular branches and in the medial inferior branch of the affected knee). The procedure will be performed with the patient in the supine position with support below the leg to maintain passive knee flexion at 15-30º, using aseptic technique, local anesthesia of the skin with 1% lidocaine (hypodermic needle using a maximum volume of 5 ml), injection of medication through a Quincke needle type 22G X 3 ½ guided by ultrasound, through the Mindray Mobile Trolley equipment model UMT - 150. Control group: 30 people with knee osteoarthritis will be submitted to anesthetic block (without treatment) of the genicular nerves with injection of 1% lidocaine solution with 0.4% dexamethasone disodium phosphate, total 1-2ml in each branch (medial and lateral superior genicular branches and medial inferior branch of the affected knee). The procedure will be performed with the patient in the supine position with support below the leg to maintain passive knee flexion at 15-30º, using aseptic technique, local anesthesia of the skin with 1% lidocaine (hypodermic needle using a maximum volume of 5 ml), injection of medication through a Quincke 22GX 3 ½ needle, guided by ultrasound, through the Mindray Mobile Trolley device model UMT – 150. The research participants and the post-intervention evaluator are not informed to which group the participant belongs (experimental group and control group) .

    Trata-se de um ensaio clínico, fase 2, randomizado e controlado, duplo-cego. O procedimento será realizado com o paciente em decúbito dorsal com suporte abaixo da perna para manutenção de flexão passiva do joelho em 15-30º, utilizando técnica asséptica, anestesia local da pele com lidocaína 1% (agulha hipodérmica utilizando volume máximo de 5ml), injeção da medicação através agulha tipo Quincke 22G X 3 ½  guiada por ultrassonografia, através do equipamento Mindray Mobile Trolley modelo UMT – 150. Os participantes nos quais o bloqueio acarretar diminuição da dor maior ou igual a 50% no pós-procedimento serão alocados de maneira randomizada nos grupos experimental e controle. A randomização foi previamente realizada através de software do programa Microsoft Excel®. Grupo experimental: 30 pessoas com osteoartrite de joelho serão submetidas ao bloqueio neurolítico dos nervos geniculares com a injeção de solução de fenol glicerinado 6%, total 0,5-2ml em cada ramo (ramos geniculares superiores medial e lateral e no ramo inferior medial do joelho acometido). O procedimento será realizado com o paciente em decúbito dorsal com suporte abaixo da perna para manutenção de flexão passiva do joelho em 15-30º, utilizando técnica asséptica, anestesia local da pele com lidocaína 1% (agulha hipodérmica utilizando volume máximo de 5ml), injeção da medicação através agulha tipo Quincke 22G X 3 ½  guiada por ultrassonografia, através do equipamento Mindray Mobile Trolley modelo UMT – 150. Grupo controle: 30 pessoas com osteoartrite de joelho serão submetidas ao bloqueio anestésico (sem tratamento) dos nervos geniculares com a injeção de solução de lidocaína 1% com fosfato dissódico de dexametasona 0,4%, total 1-2ml em cada ramo (ramos geniculares superiores medial e lateral e no ramo inferior medial do joelho acometido). O procedimento será realizado com o paciente em decúbito dorsal com suporte abaixo da perna para manutenção de flexão passiva do joelho em 15-30º, utilizando técnica asséptica, anestesia local da pele com lidocaína 1% (agulha hipodérmica utilizando volume máximo de 5ml), injeção da medicação através agulha tipo Quincke 22GX 3 ½  guiada por ultrassonografia, através do equipamento Mindray Mobile Trolley modelo UMT – 150.
