  This is a randomized clinical study, with two parallel arms, blinding of the evaluator and participants, and written based on the “Standard Protocol Items: Recommendations for Interventional Trials” (SPIRIT) guideline. There will be two groups of people with knee osteoarthritis (with 20 participants in each), where both will receive, only once, mechanical traction on the knee - applied on the symptomatic side (or on the other side) -, continuously, for 15 minutes. The knee that will receive the intervention will be stabilized in a support device, with 60º of flexion. Participants will be randomized to the groups (traction with a load of 15kg; traction with a load of 30kg) in a hidden manner, without them knowing which group they are in. The evaluator will also be unaware of each participant's group - that is, we will have a "double blind".

  Trata-se de um estudo clínico aleatorizado, com dois braços paralelos, cegamento do avaliador e dos participantes, e redigido com base na diretriz “Standard Protocol Items: Recommendations for Interventional Trials” (SPIRIT). Haverão dois grupos de pessoas com artrose de joelho (com 20 participantes em cada), onde ambos receberão, somente uma vez, uma tração mecânica no joelho - aplicada no lado sintomático (ou no mais) -, de forma contínua, por 15 minutos. O joelho que receberá a intervenção ficará estabilizado em um dispositivo de suporte, com 60º de flexão. Os participantes serão randomizados para os grupos (tração com carga de 15kg; tração com carga de 30kg) de forma oculta, sem que saibam o grupo em que estão. O avaliador também desconhecerá o grupo de cada participante - ou seja, teremos um "duplo-cegamento".

  Volunteers diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis; both genders; age over 40 years; feel pain in the knee with osteoarthritis; be able to walk without the aid of canes or walkers; be able to bend the knee up to 60º

  Volunteers who underwent analgesic procedures 24 hours before the research; having undergone knee surgery in the last 12 months; present systemic inflammatory disease; to have a tumor in the knee; express skin diseases and/or open wounds around the knee joint; to have pain in the lower extremities related to: central nervous system disease; fibromyalgia; polyneuropathy; restless legs syndrome; hip diseases; compression of nerve roots

  It is expected to find a greater immediate decrease in pain intensity, of at least 2 points, on the numerical pain scale, when applying mechanical joint traction to the knee with a load of 30kg.
