Experimental group: 40 female adolescents victims of sexual violence, referred by the Pérola Byington Hospital, in São Paulo, and will be randomized after screening and first interview for Interpersonal Therapy for adolescents or for Therapy of Sandplay, a nonverbal psychotherapeutic technique, both with weekly frequency, with a total of 15 sessions. Control group: 20 female adolescents, considered as healthy controls, recruited and referred by the ambulatory of the Adolescent Support House of the Federal University of São Paulo.

Case: have been victims of sexual violence; age between 14 and 17 years; to have Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) diagnosis after the application of the Clinician administered PTSD scale for children and adolescents (CAPS CA) performed in the screening; parents must be able to understand the informed consent term and the patient to understand, consent and sign the consent form for participation in the research; absence of intellectual deficit. Controls: did not present psychiatric diagnoses through the scale Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School-Aged Children (K-SADS) , did not have a traumatic event of sexual violence through the CAPS-CA scale; do not present a history of cranial trauma with diagnosed brain injury, treatment of epilepsy or neurosurgery; do not present decompensated clinical diseases that require intensive treatment; do not present significant intellectual deficits; absence of use of psychoactive substances in the last 6 months; not being pregnant; parents must be able to understand the informed consent term and the patient to understand, consent and sign the consent form for participation in the research; absence of intellectual deficits , intelligence coeficient( IQ)below 70.

Participantes Controles: não apresentar diagnósticos psiquiátricos através da Escala para Transtornos Afetivos e Esquizofrenia para Crianças em Idade Escolar (K-SADS), não ter evento traumático de violência sexual através da escala CAPS-CA; não apresentar história de traumatismo craniano com lesão cerebral diagnosticada, de tratamento de epilepsia ou ter realizado neurocirurgia; não apresentar doenças clínicas descompensadas que requeiram tratamento intensivo; não apresentar déficits intelectivos significativos; ausência do uso de substâncias psicoativas nos últimos 6 meses; não estar grávida; os pais devem ter condições de compreender o termo de consentimento livre e esclarecido e a paciente de compreender, consentir e assinar o termo de assentimento para participação na pesquisa; ausência de déficts intelectuais ,coeficiente intelectual (QI) abaixo de 70.

Patients victims of sexual violence under treatment (both with sandplay and with IPT - interpersonal psychoterapy ) may have structural brain changes (a decrease in the cortical thickness of the prefrontal cortex, the left insula, the left middle frontal gyrus, and a reduction in the volume of the tonsil) compared to healthy controls.

Outcome measures refer to structural changes, diffusion, and neurotransmitters in patients undergoing treatment and baseline changes compared to healthy controls, in addition to reducing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. We examined the impact of recent trauma (within the past 6-24 months) on brain function, collecting resting fMRI scans in 49 teen girls, ages 14-18. We found that adolescents with recent trauma (n=28) relative to unaffected peers (n=21) show decreased functional connectivity between regions within the left prefrontal cortex (PFC).

As medidas de desfecho referem-se a alterações estruturais, de difusão e neurotransmissores em pacientes tratados e alterações basais em comparação com controles saudáveis, além de reduzir os sintomas de transtorno de estresse pós-traumático.
